Your vehicle history stays yours.

Road Record is a local-first vehicle record app. This notice covers the pre-release Android implementation. We will update it if the released app’s data practices change.

Records on your device

Vehicle details, fuel and service records, odometers, reminders, receipt images and recognized text, trip mileage and optional route coordinates are stored in the app’s private device storage. You do not need a Road Record account or developer-operated server. Receipt recognition runs on your device. Google ML Kit may send service, performance and usage metrics to Google, but it does not send your receipt images or recognized text. See ML Kit terms and ML Kit data disclosure.

Optional location

GPS is off until you start a tracking session. During an enabled session, Road Record uses precise location to record routes and mileage, including when your screen is off or another app is open. A foreground notification shows tracking and offers Stop. Auto Trips detects drives only during that session; tracking does not restart automatically after your phone restarts. You can delete route coordinates while keeping trip mileage. Road Record does not provide recorded routes or receipt content to ad systems.

Purchases and advertising

Google Play processes the optional one-time Pro purchase. Road Record stores signed purchase evidence locally to preserve verified access offline and checks your purchases with Google Play when available. A backup does not transfer Pro access; restore it through the purchasing Play account.

Free displays moderate banner ads on Home, History and Reports. Pro has no ads. Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform may process approximate location inferred from IP address, device and advertising identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostics for advertising, consent, fraud prevention and service operation. Consent choices are presented where required, and Road Record requests ads only when Google’s consent SDK permits. Available ad privacy choices appear in the app’s settings. See Google’s privacy policy and Mobile Ads data disclosure.

Diagnostics

Road Record keeps limited event counts and the latest crash code location on your device. It does not automatically send these records to a developer analytics server. You can choose to export a diagnostics file for support. Google’s advertising and purchase services have separate service diagnostics.

Backups, exports and deletion

You choose export destinations through Android’s document picker. Road Record backups include records and original receipt images and are encrypted with a password you supply. The password is not stored or recoverable. Any cloud-drive provider you choose handles the exported file under its own policies. Before a restore replaces your current history, Road Record checks record counts and original receipt hashes and retains a private recovery snapshot.

Delete all local data in the app to remove live records, receipt assets, recovery state and generated cache. Files you exported remain at their chosen destinations until you delete them there. Uninstalling removes the app’s private data; save and verify a backup first if you want to keep your history.

Retention, children and contact

Local records remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. Road Record is intended for general vehicle ownership and is not directed to children. For privacy questions, contact mikeymikeroller@gmail.com.
